Il professore Franco Salvo. Un maestro dei diritti di libertà a Palermo nella seconda metà del Novecento

This paper focuses on the figure of Franco Salvo, a teacher of history and philosophy at the classical high school Umberto I in Palermo from 1945 to 1981. He was a master of freedom rights who taught democratically and critically the civic education in a historical perspective. Salvo was a representative figure of the Sicilian school after the Second World War, a master of life. As his students recall, in the 1968 he supported the student movement, forming their consciences for a critical reflection, a responsible freedom, a social and political commitment.

"L'enseignement du français à Palerme au XIXe siècle" est le résultat d'un long dépouillement de documents d'archives et de textes présents dans les bibliothèques palermitaines. Il prend en considération les différents paramètres de l'acte éducatif : statut du français, écoles, professeurs, élèves, programmes, manuels et méthodologies. Cette recherche embrasse une longue période: de 1800 à 1900. Cela permet de nous rendre compte des modifications résultant du changement de dynastie dans les écoles publiques et privées palermitaines.

In Finland, the trend towards a new kind of history teaching emphasizing the understanding of historical knowledge and historical thinking skills began in the mid-1990s, when history teaching objectives were defined much more broadly in the curriculum than previously. In this article, we examine how, in over twenty years since the changes in curriculum objectives were made, general upper secondary school teachers have come to value the curriculum objectives of history teaching and how these have impacted on their teaching. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan lukiolaisten historiallista päättelyä tutkivan historian oppimisen viikolla tuotettujen tekstien kautta. Viikon aikana opiskelijat selvittivät ratkaisematonta historiallista tapahtumaa juhannukselta 1957. Tuolloin tasavallan presidentin kesäasuntoa kohti ammuttiin laukauksia, joiden tehtävä oli joko pelotella tai murhata presidentti Urho Kekkonen. In Finland, history is taught in comprehensive schools at both primary and secondary levels. In primary schools, teachers are qualified class teachers who study one or two history courses during their teacher education. The amount of history taught in teacher education is limited, but student class teachers have studied history while at comprehensive school and general upper secondary school, and they have lived experience of historical cultures as members of different groups and communities.
